Doves All National Funeral Plan

Doves have come up with a package called the All National Funeral Plan which recognizes the need for South Africans to have a comprehensive funeral insurance for themselves and their families.

This policy will cover up to 12 members of your family, offering a maximum payout of R19,000 in the event of death.

As a subscriber, you will be required to pay a monthly premium of R225.

The premium can be considered quite high in comparison to other funeral products currently in the market, but members will be delighted with the benefits it attracts.

All National Funeral PlanDoves Processes All National Funeral Plan Claims in 48 Hours

In the event, you pass away, or you lose a loved one, you or your beneficiaries will receive compensation within 48 hours.

However for a quick payout you are required to have all the relevant documents to hand.

Within 48 hours you will need to produce the following documents to Doves –

  • Certified copy of the death certificate
  • ID of the deceased
  • Certified copy of the insured’s ID
  • Notification of death (BI-1663)

Remember that if a relative dies, Doves will process the claim for a beneficiary nominated in the original application form.

Signing up and cancellation

Signing up for the All National Plan is just as quick and painless as Doves ask no medical questions. However, you will be required to pay a R50 joining fee.

If you would want to cancel the policy after signing up, there is a 30-day window after the payment of the first premium within which you can do this.

You can give up the policy further down the line if you wish by ceasing to pay a monthly amount. The policy will then lapse, and you will be without cover.

All National Waiting period

Like all insurance policies, the Dove All National Funeral Plan has a waiting period before you can be able to claim.

For both the insured and their spouse or dependents the period is six months for people younger than 65.

If the claimant is older than 65, the waiting period extends to nine months. This clause is for obvious reasons; the older you are, the more likely you are to claim.

Doves would run itself into the ground if many policies with claimants of that age category were to submit claims almost at the same time.

This waiting period only applies if the deceased dies a natural death. If death occurs by accident, the claim will be processed immediately as long as the policyholder pays the first premium.

On the other hand, there are circumstances under which the waiting period will be longer than usual. For suicide, for instance, compensation will only be given if the policy had been active for at least two years.

Changes to the All National policy

Doves have the power to make alterations to the terms and conditions of the policy. However, they are required to give the policyholder a notice of at least 30 days in writing.

The underwriter can also change the rates of the premiums to cater for inflation and business trends every year.
